MAIN THEME 11 IN THE BOOK OF EZEKIEL:

??? ANNIHILATION ???

EZEKIEL 18:20

Introduction:

Many people believe and many teach that if a NON-CHRISTIAN dies God is far too loving to send them to a place called Hell for eternity; these people would prefer to believe that if a person dies without faith in Christ God will just Annihilate them at death and they will not have any consciousness or suffering for all eternity. Those who hold to this position are the majority of the unsaved and groups such as the Jehovah Witnesses. This makes them feel much more comfortable about death. These people often quote and refer to passages in the book of Ezekiel to support their case. However the question as always is what does the Bible teach?

(Page 5)

1) The Bible says that

CHRIST HAS BROUGHT IMMORTALITY TO LIGHT THROUGH THE GOSPEL

(2 Tim 1:10)

“The gospel is very much centred around the teaching of eternal life;

i.e. life beyond the Grave”

2) The Bible says that Christ taught a

RESURRECTION OF BOTH THE BELIEVER AND THE UNBELIEVER:

(John 5:29)

“The Unbeliever will be resurrected 1007 years after the believer

at the Great White Throne of Judgement.”

3) The Bible says that CHRIST TAUGHT THAT THOSE WHO DIED

LONG BEFORE HE CAME TO EARTH WERE STILL ALIVE:

(Matt 22:32) (Matt 17:1-3) (Rev 11:1-4)

4) The Bible says that

CHRIST TAUGHT THAT THE SOUL CANNOT BE KILLED:

(Matt 10:28)

5) The Bible says that

CHRIST TAUGHT THAT THE DEAD ARE CONSCIOUS:

(Luke 16:19-31)

“According to this account the dead can”

SEE (Luke 16:23)

TALK (Luke 16:24)

FEEL (Luke 16:24)

CAN BE COMFORTED OR TORMENTED. (Luke 16:25)

6) The Bible teaches that AT DEATH

THE BELIEVERS SPIRIT GOES IMMEDIATELY TO BE WITH CHRIST:

(2 Corinthians 5:8) (Eccl 12:7) (Luke 23:46) (Acts 7:59) (Phil 1:23)

(Luke 23:43)

7) The Bible teaches that EVERYBODY WILL LIVE FOREVER

— BOTH BELIEVER AND UNBELIEVER

— THE ONLY QUESTION BEING WHERE WILL THEY LIVE FOREVER:

(Daniel 12:2) (Matt 25:46) (John 5:29)

8) The Bible teaches that THE BELIEVER

WILL HAVE EVERLASTING JOY AND BLISS:

(Psalm 16:11) (Psalm 17:5) (Isaiah 26:19) (Rev 21:4)

(Page 6)

9) The Bible teaches that THE UNBELIEVER

WILL SUFFER IN HELL FOREVER AND EVER:

(Compare Revelation 19:20 with Revelation 20:10)

*** Notice here that the Beast and false prophet were cast into the burning lake of fire in Revelation 19:20; then 1000 years pass before the Devil is cast into the lake of fire in Revelation 20:10
AND THE BEAST AND THE FALSE PROPHET ARE STILL ALIVE ***
