2:THE JOY OF SEEKING THE LORD ( v8-9 )

Evidence of True Faith ( Demonstrated by our DESIRE for the things of God )

a: True faith means our souls desire is to honour God’s name. ( v8 )

b: True faith means our souls desire is to remember God. ( v8 )

Message Two: ISAIAH 31:1-9

( Isaiah 31:1-9 )
Introduction: The word Egypt – always is a picture of Evil – Unbelief – The World – Moses had to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.

A PICTURE OF THE UNSAVED IN EGYPT ( The World )

1: The Unbeliever turns to the UNBELIEVING WORLD ( PICTURED AS EGYPT ) FOR HELP. ( v1a ).

2: The Unbeliever trusts in the STRONG THINGS OF MAN FOR HELP. ( v1b ) Atomic bomb-science etc.

3: The Unbelievers in EGYPT ( ie the world ) ARE MANY. ( v1c ) ( Matt 7:13 and 14 )

4: The Unbeliever DOES NOT LOOK TO GOD OR SEEK HIM. ( v1d )

( Romans 3:10-11 )

5: The Unbeliever will SUFFER MUCH WOE FOR HIS UNBELIEF. ( v1a ) “woe” & ( v2 )

6: The Unbeliever – HOWEVER WISE IS ONLY A MAN NOT GOD. ( v3a )

So they should NOT be trusted.

7: The Unbeliever along with his UNBELIEVING HELPERS WILL FAIL. ( v3d )

“And they shall all fail together”

8: The Unbeliever ( Those in Egypt – ie the World ) WILL HAVE TO ONE DAY GIVE UP HIS IDOLS. ( v7 )

9: The Unbeliever needs to TURN TO GOD ( i.e. Repent ). ( v6 )

A PICTURE OF THE SAVED IN EGYPT (And the Unbelieving World)

How does the Believer “cope” in a world of Unbelief?

1: The Believer HAS GOD ON THEIR SIDE ( Pictured as a Lion ). ( v4a )

“When he roars our enemies flee”

2: The Believer HAS NO REASON TO BE AFRAID OF WHAT ANYONE SAYS.

“Because God Isn’t Afraid” ( v4b )

3: The Believer has NO REASON TO FEEL UNWORTHY IN OUR ENEMIES PRESENCE.

“A common feeling” ( v4d ) “Nor abase himself for the noise of them”

4: The Believer has GOD FIGHTING FOR THEM. ( v4d )

“So shall the Lord of Hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion”.

5: The Believer has GOD “Defending” them “Delivering” them “Preserving “them”. ( v5 )
