Message One:

Facts about Lucifer ( Isaiah 14:12-19 )

( Isaiah 14:12-19 )

Note: The context of this verse is clear. The person who is addressed as Lucifer is King Nebuchadnezzar himself—The King of Babylon. However it is perfectly obvious as these verses are studied that there is someone far more sinister being referred to here. These verses contain direct information concerning Satan himself.

Note the following:

1) Satan has many names and here he is called Lucifer.

( Name means Light Bringer or bright star )

2) Satan’s other names in scripture:

( Rev 9:11 ) ( Rev 12:10 ) ( 1 Peter 5:8 ) ( Matt 12:24 ) ( 2 Cor 6:15 )

( Isa 27:1 ) ( Rev 12:9 ) ( 1 Sam 16:14 ) ( John 14:30 ) ( Matt 16:23 )

( Matt 4:3 ) ( 2 Cor 4:4 ) ( Matt 13:19 ) ( 2 Thess 2:3 )

3) Satan’s works and areas of operation in the scriptures:

a) Satan Deceives: ( Gen 3:4-5 ) ( 2 Cor 11:3 ) ( 2 Cor 11:14 ) ( Eph 6:11 )

( Rev 12:9 ) ( Rev 20:3 ) ( 2 Thess 2:9-10 ) ( Matt 24:24 ) ( Rev 19:20 )

b) Satan is the Enemy of the things of God:

( 1 Chron 21:1 ) ( Zech 3:1-2 ) ( 1 Thess 2:18 ) ( Dan 10:13 ) ( Rev 12:7 )

( Matt 16:23 ) ( Mark 4:3-16 ) ( 2 Cor 4:4 ) ( Rev 13:6 )

c) Satan compared with Animals:

( John 10:12 ) ( 1 Peter 5:8 ) ( Matt 13:4 ) ( Rev 12:9 )

d) Satan Powerful But Has Limitations Placed On Him By God:

( Job 1:12 ) ( Luke 10:19 ) ( Rom 16:20 ) ( 1 Cor 10:13 ) ( James 4:7 )

( Rev 12:12 ) ( Rev 13:5 )

( Page 2 )

e) Satan is a defeated enemy and the Christian can have victory over him:

( John 14:30 ) ( Luke 13:16 ) ( Acts 10:38 ) ( Gal 1:4 ) ( 1 John 3:8 )

( Heb 2:14-15 ) ( Col 1:13 ) ( Rev 3:21 ) ( John 12:31 ) ( Luke 10:18 )

( John 16:11 ) ( Col 2:15 ) ( Rev 12:11 ) ( 1 John 2:13-14 ) ( Rom 16:20 )

( Rev 17:14 ) ( Rev 20:1-3 ) ( 2 Thess 2:8 )

f) Satan uses the word IF::

( Matt 4:3 ) ( Matt 4:6 ) ( Matt 27:40 ) ( Luke 23:37 ) ( Luke 23:39 )

****Notice some important thoughts concerning Satan in Isaiah 14 : 12-19****

1) Satan Suffers from AMBITION:

( He desires to be as God himself ) ( Isa 14:13 )

( Ezk 28:2 ) ( 2 Thess 2:4 )

2) Satan Suffers from DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR.

( He is deluded to believe he can reach that position )

( Isa 14:14 )

3) Satan Suffers from PRIDE: ( This is his fundamental problem )

( Ezk 28:2 )

4) Satan Suffers from SELF IMPORTANCE:

( Notice the five I’s in verse 13-14 )

5) Satan Suffers from the fact that he

BELIEVES GOD WOULD NOT PUNISH HIM:

6) Satan Suffers from being ARROGANT:

***Notice Satan’s Punishment***

( Isa 14:11-12 ) ( Isa 14:15 ) ( Isa 14:16-19 ) ( Ezekiel 28:13-19 )

( Rev 19:20 ) ( Rev 20:10 )

Important final note on the subject of Satan in Isaiah 14:
